Cefischer & Oscar

This is a beautiful little book by a German illustrator Carl Ernst Fischer who published under the Pseudonym Cefischer. During WWII he lost both of his arms due to a Bomber attack. Rather than giving up his profession, he learnt to paint and draw with his mouth. It is common knowlege that people can't handle critizism, so Artists and writers often used the animal character to speak the truth. Cefischers stories about the cat Oscar and his family allow the reader to smile and laugh about his/her own shortcomings. When I was a young boy I found much joy in looking at the illustrations way before I could read the text...
